Our hopes for the children in our care.

Anne Powell, from our Maryland program, shares her hopes for the child in her care below.

We first met at John’s Hopkins Hospital when you were just 19 months old. I knew little about you except you needed a foster home and I was taking you home with me.

You were tiny and frail but could sit independently and “bear” crawl really fast. You had a feeding tube and refused any and all food. You didn’t seem to know how to play.

Now you run all over the place. You talk, read books, love the playground, climb to the top of anything that’s high enough to scare me. You love cars and trucks.

"You have brought so much love into our house."

My grandkids pay me no attention when here because they love watching you learn about the world. You go to school. I was so proud of your bravery taking the school bus for the first time. You have had many first experiences here and handled them like a champ.

My hope is that when our time together is over, you know you were loved, safe, and cherished, and can carry that with you wherever you are.

Love,

Mom
